Apple Launches New MacBook Pro Models With Revolutionary Touch Bar

At  its October 27 'Hello Again' event, Apple has finally refreshed its MacBook Pro lineup. The thinnest and lightest MacBook Pro is here in 13-inch and 15-ich options. Not just that. The new MacBook Pro comes with an unique OLED Touch Bar which replaces the traditional function keys. The Touch Bar aims to bring the convenience of having a touch-based interface minus the huge touchscreen.

There are five models of the MacBook Pro. Three options for the 13-inch MacBook Pro and two for the 15-inch variant. The cheapest MacBook Pro (13-inch) costs $1,499 and doesn't come with the Touch Bar with integrated Touch ID. To get the new Touch Bar, consumers will have to shed a minimum $1,799 .

"The Touch Bar places controls right at the user’s fingertips and adapts when using the system or apps like Mail, Finder, Calendar, Numbers, GarageBand, Final Cut Pro X and many more, including third-party apps. For example, the Touch Bar can show Tabs and Favorites in Safari, enable easy access to emoji in Messages, provide a simple way to edit images or scrub through videos in Photos and so much more," explained Apple in a release.

Featuring an all-metal unibody body, the 13-inch variants are 17 percent thinner and 23 percent less volume than the previous generation, and weighs 1.3 kgs. The new 15-inch MacBook Pro, at just 15.5 mm thin, is 14 percent thinner and 20 percent less volume than before, and weighs 1.8 kgs.

The Touch ID is also integrated into the power button. Once you enroll your fingerprint in Touch ID on your MacBook Pro, you can quickly unlock your Mac, switch user accounts and make secure purchases with Apple Pay on the web with a single touch.

The Retina display on the new MacBook Pro at 500 nits of brightness, is 67 percent brighter than the previous generation.

Hardware options include sixth-generation dual-core Core i5 with eDRAM, dual-core Core i7 with eDRAM and quad-core Core i7 Intel processors. The new 15-inch MacBook Pro features powerful Radeon Pro discrete graphics delivering up to 2.3 times more performance than the previous generation.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with Intel Iris Graphics. All models feature SSDs with sequential read speeds over 3GBps and Thunderbolt 3, which consolidates data transfer, charging and twice the video bandwidth in a single port — allowing users to drive a 5K display and power their MacBook Pro with a single cable.

How much does it cost?

13-Inch MacBook Pro without Touch Bar starts at $1,499, features a 2.0 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1 GHz, 8GB of memory and 256GB of flash storage.

13-Inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar starts at $1,799 offers 2.9 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz, 8GB of memory and 256GB of flash storage. The 512GB SSD model costs $1,999

15-Inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar starts at $2,399 and is powered a 2.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.5 GHz, 16GB of memory and 256GB of flash storage. The 512GB SSD variant costs $2,799.

Hike Messenger has introduced its video calling feature for its users on Android, iOS users might have to wait a while.

Hike Messenger has introduced its video calling feature for its users, aiming to make India a ‘sight and sound’ country.

Video calling, the beta of which was rolled out in September this year to a select set of less than a hundred thousand, will now begin to roll out to the entire userbase starting with Android users this week. Live Caller Preview is another interesting aspect of video calling on Hike. This allows the user to see a live video preview of the caller before answering the call. Hike video calling is available immediately on Android. If users updated their Hike Messenger in September this year, video calling would have automatically been enabled for them and will now be accessible.

The Hike team says that the video call experience with the app will be ‘simple, reliance and high quality’. “Video calling on Hike is a simple and easy to use feature that works on a single tap that is integrated into chat threads with friends. The feature has been built for a reliance and high quality video experience that works even under challenging network conditions, including good quality 2G,” the company said in a press statement.

Another feature of the update messenger is the ‘Live Caller Preview’, which gives a user the ability to see a preview of a live video before they answer the call. Hike thinks that this feature adds to the fun of video calling.

Commenting on the launch, Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder and CEO, Hike Messenger said “This was an obvious one and we’re excited to bring it to the market so quickly. We’ve been in beta for a few months and the results have been really positive. We’re now excited to roll this out across our entire user base. We see India as primarily a sight and sound market — and we believe video calling will have a large impact on how people communicate inside of Hike.”

LG X Power smartphone with 4,100mAh battery launched at Rs 15,990

LG has launched a new smartphone - X Power, in India. Part of the company's X line-up of handsets, the X Power is priced at Rs 15,990 and will be available across leading online and offline stores in the country.

LG announced its new X-series of mid-range 'specialist' smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2016, back in February this year.

The company claims that every smartphone in the series has a special feature. As the name suggests, the X Power's highlight feature is its good battery backup. The smartphone is backed by a 4,100mAh battery that claims to offer 27 hours of talk time and up to 925 hours of standby time on 3G. It also promises to deliver up to 19 hours of video playback and up to 185 hours of audio playback. The battery comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support for fast charging.

As far as the specifications go, LG X Power features a 5.3-inch HD display of 720x1280 pixel resolution. Powering the handset is a 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek processor paired with 2GB of RAM. It offers 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD cards.

LG X Power has dual-sim functionality and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. It is equipped with a 13MP primary camera and an 8MP front camera for selfies. Major connectivity options include 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Recently, LG launched its X Cam smartphone in India. Priced at Rs 19,990, the device has a dual rear camera setup comprised of a 13MP module and a 5MP module, capable of 120-degree wide angle shooting. There's also an LED flash.

LG X Cam has a 5.2-inch Full HD display of 1080x1920 pixel resolution. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by an octa-core processor. The smartphone offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD cards.

India overtakes U.S. as second biggest market in terms of smartphone connections

India has become the second-biggest market globally in terms of smartphone connections, overtaking the US and trailing only China. More and more Indians are logging on the internet using their mobiles, aided by availability of low-priced smartphones — a significant number of them assembled locally and sold for as low as Rs 3,000 — and rapid expansion of 3G and 4G networks.

According to figures provided by global telecom body GSMA, smartphone connections in India at the end of the first half of this year (ending June 2016) stood at 275 million, higher than 259 million connections in the US. China, however, leads by a huge margin with overall smartphone connections at 910 million.

Alasdair Grant, the head of Asia for GSMA, told TOI that the growth in smartphone connections will continue to remain strong in coming years as 3G and 4G networks spread rapidly across the country. The growth will be fuelled further with the entry of new operators such as Reliance Jio.

Grant added that 4G connection base is forecast to grow from 3 million at the end of 2015 to 280 million by 2020. "Mobile broadband (3G and 4G) will account for nearly 50% of total connections in India by then."

GSMA said mobile operators are investing heavily to improve network coverage, and this should see 3G being available to 90% of the population by 2020, while 4G to 70%, the latter registering a 14-fold increase from now.

Most of the mobile manufacturers have also read the trend as the majority of new device launches by them are only 3G and 4G compatible as 2G devices — which are mainly feature phones — are being discontinued.

Total mobile users in India (some may carry multiple SIM cards) stood at 616 million at the end of June, GSMA said. "Almost half of the country's population now subscribes to a mobile service, indicating the significant growth potential in the coming years, particularly from the rural and under-penetrated segments."

In its 'India Mobile Economy' report, GSMA estimates that 330 million new mobile users will be added by 2020. This would push up the mobile phone penetration base across the population to 68% against 47% at the end of 2015.

The report also said that mobile phones will also become a platform to offer a variety of government schemes and other services such as financial access, information dissemination, and productivity enhancement.

The report said that data traffic will register a CAGR of 63% between 2015 and 2020, registering a 12-fold increase over the present usage. This will be fuelled by social networking and online communication.

 ‘Clash Of Clans’ Halloween Update 2016: When Will The Update Release And What Will It Include?

After weeks of speculation, Supercell finally gave its first real clue that the Clash of Clans 2016 Halloween update would soon release to players across the globe.  On Sunday afternoon, the company tweeted the hashtag “Soon” accompanied by a spooky Clash of Clans photo with the words “Halloween is coming” printed in the corner.

For Clash of Clans players, this message can only mean one thing: that the much-anticipated Halloween update will be rolling out in the very near future. Our guess is we could see it as early as Monday afternoon, though, Supercell hasn’t given any official word on when it will release.

Though the update has yet to arrive, leaks showcasing 2016 Clash of Clans Halloween content made their way to Reddit and the official Clash of Clans forums roughly two weeks ago. Among the content uncovered are spooky Halloween pumpkins, a shipyard shipwreck, statues, special character looks and more. Check out everything that has been leaked so far.

1. Shipyard Shipwreck :

Leaked by Redditor, Chief spAnser, the Clash of Clans Halloween update is expected to feature a Shipyard special event. The leaked photos provide a couple of different images of a ship – one that is a shipwreck and the other fully restored. Redditors theorize that the Shipyard event will likely be shipwreck that players will have to fix. Once fixed, some players believe the restored ship will function in the same way as the Submarine does in Boom Beach. If this rumor turns out to be true, players will use the restored ship to search for and gather gold. According to the leaks, the shipyard will unlock at Town Hall 4 and will cost 50,000 gold to repair.

2.Barbarian King Statue :

The Barbarian King is a new decoration leaked from the 2016 Clash of Clans Halloween update.-Reddit

The next leaked photo reveals a statue of the Barbarian King, which will be added to the decoration menu. It will cost 55 gems to purchase.

3. Red Event Characters :

The leaks also show an added Red Barbarian King and Red Archer Queen for the Halloween update which has Redditors guessing that Supercell plans to do hold a special red event again this year like they have in the past. The Red event is Supecell’s way of bringing awareness to HIV and AIDS  in collaboration with (Product)RED. Product RED is a private brand that was created in 2006 by Bono from U2’s and other philanthropists. (Product)RED has partnered with a number of companies that include Nike, Coca-Cola Company, Converse, Apple and more. Companies that support the charitable organization, help raise awareness by giving consumers an easy way to donate. For Clash of Clans players who made donations to the Product RED during the red event last year, Supercell offered embellishments for players’ Town Halls. If the leaks are correct, this year’s red event specials will include a Red Barbarian King and Red Archer Queen.

Other Clash of Clans Halloween Update Rumors :

Besides the Shipyard and the Red event characters, other leaks suggest that Clashers could see an Air Sweeper level 7 added along with an Air Defense level 9.

Here are the patch notes for Halloween update:

• Fixed a bug related to the army training drag and drop feature. NOTE: Old app version will have the dragging in training disabled, players need to update to the new version for the training to work again.

• Improvement: Long press on the Clan Castle troop icon during battle will display the troop contents.

• Change in Train Troops and Brew Spells upper left UI: Changed total troops and total spells training capacity counters to not display over-capacity anymore; previously they would display 0/480 and 0/22 at max level, now they will display as 0/240 and 0/11 (over queueing still works as it used to).

• Clans can now receive Friendly War invites even when the clan is set to "Closed".

• Fixed issue with starting 5v5 Friendly Wars when the Clan has less than 10 members ("not enough eligible members" error).

• Fixed issue when the Clan was unable to receive a new Friendly War invite when the old invite has been pushed off the clan chat and gets stuck.

• Elders won't see anymore the Accept/Reject button for a Friendly War invite in the Clan chat (previously they could see the buttons and tap on them, but those actions would fail as only Leader/Co-Leader can do those actions).

• Fixed showing the text "War win bonus" under a player name in the upper left UI, when scouting enemy villages during Battle Day in Clan War.

• Prices for buildings in the Shop are once again shown in red color when not enough resources are available for a purchase (used to be shown in white color all the time).

• Fixed issue with reloading Facebook pictures for friends, whenever tapping the Friends/Friend Requests tabs.

• Fixed missing "1d" text for the single Collector boost icon + fixed "1h" boost text appearing on the collector boost button when selecting a barracks/spell factory before selecting the collector.
