CyanogenMod 14.1 (Android 7.0) Now Available For Xiaomi Mi 3 & Mi 4 [Download]


Xiaomi Mi 3 and Mi 4 have both joined the list of Xiaomi smartphones that can be rooted using the latest CyanogenMod 14.1 which would usher in Android 7.0 Nougat on the devices. CyanogenMod 14.1 has been announced on XDA Developer’s forum as available for the Xiaomi Mi 3 and the Mi 4. The Mi 3 was launched running Android JellyBean, later upgraded to Android KitKat while the Mi 4 featured Android KitKat but has got an officil upgrade to Android Marshmallow. But you can decide to take things further if you own a Mi 3 or Mi 4 by installing the Android Nougat OS on it using the latest CyanogenMod ROM.


As you should be aware by now, this is an unofficial ROM so you should thread with caution if you wish to root your Mi 3 using the latest CyanogenMod 14.1 for the Mi 3 & Mi 4 as your device can get bricked, you SD card can be damaged or some functions might not work again on the device. But if you are still interested in having the CyanogenMOD 14.1 for the Mi 3 installed on your copy, here’s how to go about it.


How to Install CyanogenMod 14.1 on the Xiaomi Mi 3 & Xiaomi Mi 4

  • Read the official Wiki page for more details abou the devices and how to download the CyanogenMod 14.1.
  • Unlock your bootloader if you haven’t done so already
  • Flash a custom recovery via Fastboot
  • Push GApps (arm) and the CM 13.0 zip to your device
  • Boot into Recovery
  • Perform factory reset
  • Flash the CM 14.1 zip from SD card
  • Flash GApps from SD card
  • Reboot

You can also upgrade from earlier CyanogenMod versions to the latest one and here’s how.

How to Upgrade from earlier version of CyanogenMod (even 13.0 and 12.1) to v 14.1

  • Push the new CM 14.1 zip to your SD card
  • Boot into Recovery
  • Flash the CM 14.1 zip from SD card
  • Flash the most recent GApps for Nougat if you are upgrading from earlier android version
  • Reboot
